Playful Pops of Color Bring a Young Family's Home to Life

A growing young family with two daughters hired Brandi to complete their home’s interior decor. Finished in a colorful traditional style, this home is full of timeless architecture mixed with modern details. She loved working with these fantastic clients – they eagerly embraced a playful use of color and bold design choices!

"This family was not afraid of color and that’s what makes me the most happy about this house."

Nature Inspired Three-Season Porch

Butterflies in nature-inspired hues flutter about on a bright turquoise ottoman on the three-season porch. The colors and motifs in this sitting room are at once eye-catching and playful.

Award-Winning Dining Room

An antique oriental rug from the 50s that was in mint condition was the starting point for this dining room. The rest of the design elements play on the rug's stunning depth of color. The next focal point was the wallpaper which gives a great and unique pop of green. This breathtaking dining space comes to life in confident colors of green, white, navy, and pink.

Timeless Pattern and Brilliant Blues

Crisp cotton and sumptuous velvet vibe with sleek wood and timeless pattern. While a trellis pattern in green and white contrast surprisingly yet beautifully with the vibrant rug with floral motif in fuchsia and brilliant blue on the velvet chairs.

An Ode to Eclecticism

Home Office Design

Awash in shades of grey with strategic pops of orange, the study/office provides a workspace for the couple when working from home. A form-fitting mid-century modern chaise encourages one to sit and read awhile.

Pops of Color Flow into the Upstairs

From a navy and bright orange office to a green floral dining room, each room on the main floor makes a unique statement but flows together through similar artwork and rugs. In the entryway, classic wood floors were left for a touch of warmth against the cool grey shades of the walls. A handwoven abstract rug infuses the home's entry with dynamic color and contrast against a classic banister staircase. The fun doesn't stop here. Let's move to the second floor and check out the owner's suite and daughter's rooms.

Serene Sanctuary

In the owner's suite, wood beams, handmade wall coverings, and an extra custom-built closet elevate this space. Pops of color here are in the side panels, bedding, and upholstered bed backing.

Custom-Built Closet

The custom-built, high gloss white and walnut closet accommodate a variety of storage—space to hang, drawers, shelving, and even a TV. When not in use, the closet can be closed off so all that shows is a shiny and bright wall of cabinetry.

Lights, Camera, Action!

The daughter’s love of plays inspired the decor of this room. As a Houzz Favorite, this theatrical room plays on her love for plays. Her built-in bed with an upholstered headboard has plenty of storage for books, collections, toys, and more. To the left and right of the bed hangs curtains that give her the option to either display or hide her prized possessions. Above is a faux-painted ceiling of clouds and a little highlight of pink. Last, but not least, let’s not forget the novelty hanging chair!

Fit for a Queen

As a Miss Minnesota contestant, space for wardrobe took priority. To the right of the two queen-sized built-ins, is a walk-in closet (which is where you also climb to the second story). The top bunk is perfect for slumber parties and the hanging chair makes for a fun reading chair.
