This Edina, MN couple wanted to keep the feel of their 1940s master bedroom and bath, but add storage and space to create a retro-luxurious master suite. Brandi and her team worked within the overall footprint of the master bedroom, moving walls and creating space by implementing a unique design plan.
The master bathroom underwent the greatest change by designing a "de-cluttered" vanity area and updating the look to create a sumptuous yet well-organized atmosphere. Custom vanity drawers were fitted with plug-ins, allowing appliances to have access to power while staying out of sight. Medicine cabinets added on either side of the vanity further de-cluttered the space, while leaving more than adequately-sized mirrors. The elegant fixtures are polished nickel.
The master bedroom is floored with a dark hardwood that matches the tone of the stained Cherry wood of the Louis XV reproduction bed. The double-tray ceiling adds height and spaciousness, with the darkly-stained upper moulding accenting the bed's intricately-carved headboard. The French Bergeres sitting chairs are covered in a soft, blue chenille.
